Dear Josh,

How can I lose weight when my husband eats badly? I want to lose 25 pounds but my husband has a big sweet tooth and he does not seem to understand that for me if it’s in the house I will eat it.

Resa,

I can get people to say or do anything and you can to. We live in the matrix and it’s time to step out and go after your dreams. Resa you just answered you own question….he does not seem to understand and he probably doesn’t. If I’m within 20 feet of a Mc Donald’s I start to jones and get big Mac attacks. Ask your hubby if he would agree that for most alcoholics it’s probably not a good idea to go hang out at a bar. He probably will agree. Then explain to him that with food it’s kind of the same thing with you. That if you are around it you will probably eat it and it almost feels like an addiction. If he really cares about your health he will respect that and not keep bad stuff in the house. If he does not listen get a new husband. Ni I’m just joking…So don’t stop and remember you can get people to say or do anything…I do.

Basically your asking, “How do I sell myself to myself?” First you are your own company and as in every company once in awhile you have to take inventory. It sucks doing this. Anyone who says that like taking time to do this is probably lying. In the process of slowing down and seeing what your assets and liabilities are you will start to sell yourself on what a good person you are. The liabilities will also show you where you need to improve. The key here is to realize just as in any business there is always liabilities and that every company has them. Even the Wal-Mart’s of the world have a ledger of their liabilities. That is why they are always having sales, promotions, and incentives, as they want to get rid of those liabilities. They don’t like doing and you wont either. But at the end Wal-Mart has room for more newer and better products and so will you. Also, Wal-Mart needs to hire lawyers, consultants, and advisors to help them to decide what needs to go. This is what friends, family and even trusted members of the clergy can help you do. You can’t do it all alone as you may want to hold on to some sentimental products that have no value. As I said it might be hard but once you are done, the next yearly inventory reduction will be easier. After this inventory by default you will have the higher self-esteem to know your own worth and the confidence to even sell yourself to yourself. So start the sale today and sell off those liabilities.

Brad
Wisconsin

Brad,
How to sell yourself on a first date

The first thing you want to do is not sell too hard. This is what is known as the “passive sale”. Let the buyer, your date, want you the product. You would not try and “sell” yourself to a potential new friend would you. The either want to be your friend or they don’t.

Next, in sales you have to believe in your product. True, you can sell not believing in your product, but those sales will be short lived and your company will close sooner than later because you won’t be able to keep up with the buyers expectations. It’s the same thing in dating. If you go out there and act like you have everything under control, that you have money, are super independent, and can rescue the world, that is what your dating partner, the buyer, will assume is true and now expect. The contract starts on your first meeting and goes through your last. The contract can be amended but it takes both parties to agree to that amendment and if one does not the contract will be void. So be yourself and if the other person does not want to get in “business” with you then you are saving yourself from emotional bankruptcy, inflated paying for emotional love taxes, and a very bad break up recession. In other words be your self don’t oversell who you want to be. Tell them who you are right there right then.

Adam,

I had this problem to until I stopped dating and started information gathering. Sounds weird huh? I use to hook up and ask questions later, mistaking sexual attraction for love and companionship. Now when I go on a date I ask questions like, are you looking for a relationship? Do you want to have kids someday? Are you seeing anyone else? It may seem odd, but if you preface it by saying I really want to get to know you, a classy lady who is emotionally available shouldn’t have any problem answering a few simple questions. If she does, it might, just might, be a sign that she is not emotionally available.

Dear Josh,

I can’t break up with my bf of three years because I don’t want to hurt him, even though I know he isn’t right for me. What should I do?

Amy,

This is a problem I and many people I know have had. If you think about it, you are hurting him more by staying with him because you are not allowing him to find someone who truly wants to be with him. That’s not my real concern though. I’m more concerned with why you are not taking care of yourself enough to break up with him and find someone that will help to you on your journey to happiness. There are so many programs out there that can help you get the experience strength and hope to make this jump. One program is co-dependence anonymous. I know it sounds crazy but it costs nothing and will help show you your side of the street in your relationship and take the focus off of his feelings and put it back on to you which are where they need to be anyway. This is not selfish; it is only empowering you to be the best person and eventually partner, lover, and human being you can be.
